Barbara Jean Haslag, 84, Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Stonebridge Villa Marie surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 18, 1940, to the late Elmer H. and Lidwina C. (Veltrop) Wekenborg in Taos.
She was united in marriage to LeRoy Haslag Aug. 1, 1959, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos.
Barbara attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Elementary School.
In addition to being a lifelong homemaker who devoted her life to raising her children, she was employed at Woolworth’s Department store in Jefferson City and later owned Barbara’s Flower Arrangements and a daycare center until she retired in 2001.
Barbara enjoyed visiting family and friends, dancing, fishing and singing with LeRoy.
She was preceded in death by husband, LeRoy; parents, Elmer and Lidwina; brother, James Wekenborg; and sisters, Anna Marie Schell and Marilyn Bruns.
Barbara is survived by children, DeWayne Haslag and wife Kim of Holts Summit, Daniel Haslag and wife Kathy of Diamondhead, Miss., Debra Taylor and husband Vernon of Ogden, Iowa, Darrin Haslag and wife Angela of Taos and Carrie Haslag of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Eric Haslag and wife Melissa, Ryan, Erin, Jake, Nick and Maddie Haslag, Derek Taylor and wife Katie, Kenley and Scott Haslag and Kylie Wells; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Tristan and Carter Haslag; sister, Carol Feltrop; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday May 3, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Taos.
A celebration of life for both Barbara and LeRoy will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions suggested to the Alzheimer Organization of their choice.
