Brian William James, 68, Vienna, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, in the University of Missouri Hospita in Columbia.

He was born Sept. 29, 1955, son of James Albert “Jim” and Mary Elaine (Blair) James in University City.

He was united in marriage to Becky Sue Hayes April 26, 1975, in the Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna.

Brian was a 1974 graduate of Vienna High School.

He worked for Snellen’s Packing House, Interstate Bakeries, Flowers Foods, Sara Lee, all in Rolla, and at Quaker Windows in Freeburg, until his health no longer permitted.

Brian was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Elaine; infant grandson, baby James Stricklan; paternal grandparents, Martin and Lucy James; and maternal grandparents, Francis and Hester Blair.

He is survived by wife, Becky of the home near Vienna; sons, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony “Tony” James and wife Roxanne of California and Adam James of Vienna; daughter, Angela Stricklan and friend, Cale Pasley of Vienna; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Paul James and wife Pam, Joe James and wife Sherry and Jay James and wife Diane, all of Vienna and Mark James and wife Mendy of Belle; sister, Connie Sandbothe and husband Art of Vienna; five brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.,      

Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, May 3, at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna with Rev. Basil Tigga and Deacon Michael Brooks officiating. 

Immediately following the service in church, all in attendance are invited to the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Vienna for a meal. After the meal the family invites anyone in attendance to the interment in Faulkerson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to the Cody Stricklan Memorial Scholarship Fund and to the Fulkerson Cemetery.
