The Fatima Lady Comets soccer team paused Thursday to celebrate the contributions of five remarkable seniors on Senior Night. With a resounding 8-0 victory against California at home, the Lady Comets not only secured a memorable win but also paid tribute to the lasting impact the seniors have had on the team.

Jeanna Abbott, Chloe Adamson, Hannah Heisler, Kaitlyn Plassmeyer, and Maya Libbert have shown dedication, leadership and skill that have shaped the team’s success over the past four seasons.

“These five seniors epitomize the hardworking spirit of Fatima Lady Comets soccer,” said Coach Dustin Cox. “Their commitment, talent and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the team’s culture and achieving success on and off the field. They leave behind a legacy that will inspire future generations of Lady Comets.”

Jeanna Abbott’s versatility and strategic play as an offensive utility player have been invaluable in controlling the tempo and direction of the game. Abbott has scored six goals and assisted two goals in the last two seasons.

Goalkeeper Chloe Adamson has demonstrated growth and skill in her position, amassing nearly 200 saves over the past two seasons. Adamson has been in goal for more than 10 clean sheets in the last two seasons, which is awarded to goalkeepers when the opposition was unable to score.

Kaitlyn Plassmeyer’s speed and unselfish play as a striker have created numerous scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. Plassmeyer, a team captain, has scored 18 goals and assisted 8 goals in the last two seasons.

Hannah Heisler’s contributions set a high standard for the team. Heisler is the Lady Comets all-time leading goalscorer with nearly 45 goals and 10 assists recorded in the last two seasons. She served as team captain for two consecutive seasons.

Maya Libbert, who joined the team last year, emerged as a leading defender, providing stability and guidance to the team’s defensive line. Libbert’s impact extends beyond her on-field performance as a captain and mentor to incoming players.

“Senior Night was an exciting game and it was interesting to watch several players playing out of their normal positions,” said Libbert. “I think our team had a very positive attitude throughout the game despite the downpour and worked hard to get all the seniors to score. It was the perfect way to honor our senior players.”

As the Lady Comets continue their pursuit for a district championship, the legacy of these five seniors will continue to inspire and motivate their teammates, ensuring that their impact will be felt long after they’ve stepped off the field for the final time.
