The Fatima Lady Comets finished an impressive season, culminating in the announcement of their annual awards and honors, which recognize the outstanding contributions of the team and individual players.

“This season has been a remarkable journey, and I’m incredibly proud of our players’ dedication and achievements,” said Coach Dustin Cox. “Their hard work has not only brought success but also set a shining example for future Fatima soccer stars. We welcome aspiring athletes to join our program and continue this legacy of excellence and passion for the game.”

The Lady Comets concluded the 2024 season with a winning record of 10-8. The team scored 2.9 goals per game, tied for the highest goal-scoring average in program history. Defensively, the team only allowed 2.3 goals per game, which is the second-lowest goal average allowed in the team’s tenure.

Here are individual awards.

Senior Captain Hannah Heisler led the team with 21 goals and six assists this season, earning the MVP title for the second straight year. She was also named to the All-District First Team, All-Region, and All-State First Team and received All-State Academic honors. Heisler ends her high school soccer career as the program’s leading goal-scorer with 50 plus 11 assists in the last two years.

Senior Captain Kaitlyn Plassmeyer scored 18 goals and assisted five this season, which earned her the Offensive Player of the Year award for significantly increasing her goal-scoring ability. She was also selected for All-District First Team, All-Region, and All-State Honorable Mention. Plassmeyer ends her high school soccer career with 21 goals and nine assists in the last two years.

Senior Captain Maya Libbert’s stellar backfield play earned her the Defensive Player of the Year award. She was also named to the All-District First Team and All-Region Teams and received All-State Academic honors prior to joining the collegiate soccer program at Stephen’s College.

Junior Kristen Robertson emerged as a key player again this season, scoring four goals and assisting one. Her drive to improve, positive impact on her teammates, and hard-working attitude earned her the team’s Comet Award. She also was named to the All-District Second Team.

Senior Jeana Abbott, who posted four goals and two assists this season, and freshman Lilly Borgmeyer were also named to the All-District Second Team.
