Left wing policies push Democrats away

Posted

In 1962, when he was 51, Ronald Reagan announced that he was no longer voting Democrat but would now be a Republican. He frequently said that he didn’t leave the Democratic party; it left him.

Reagan wasn’t the first to recognize the constant movement of the party of Harry Truman to the progressive left. Two years ago, Tulsi Gabbard — a rising star in the Democrat party and a former Democrat presidential candidate — announced she left the Democrat Party, calling the organization an “elitist cabal.”

In 2019, Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington publicly declared his support for the #WalkAway movement, a social media campaign in which former liberals speak out about leaving the Democratic party.

Other Democrats who believe that the Democratic Party has left them include Black Civil Rights Attorney Leo Terrell.

Last September, the Black mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson, left the Democratic Party because “the future of America’s great urban centers depends on the willingness of the nation’s mayors to champion law and order and practice fiscal conservatism.”

According to politico.com, between 1994 and 2023, “173 state lawmakers have switched parties: 83 of those were Democrats who became Republicans, while just 23 Republicans became Democrats.”

Some issues forcing Democrats to leave their party are allowing minors to undergo sex change procedures and forcing girls to not only compete with biological males but share showers and dressing rooms with them.

In past columns, I have pointed out Democrats who want to defund police in their cities. Other far-left issues pushed by Democrats are removing our southern borders to allow in millions of illegals.

Here are some stories that have been in the news the last few weeks and continue to convince Democrats that their party is leaving them.

Last week, the state of Washington announced a homeownership program that offers loans with the rule that “Whites” need not apply. The new program provides loans at 0% for up to $150,000 based on race.

If that is not bad enough California is ready to approve up to $150,000 in state-supported home loans for undocumented — read illegal — immigrants under the “California Dream for All” loan program.  This is paid for by tax-paying citizens.

The Biden Administration, last Thursday, announced it would restart its controversial parole policy, bringing in up to 30,000 migrants into the United States each month on chartered airplanes. Tax-payer funds bring in Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans.

The book critic for the New York Times, Jennifer Szalai, recently said, “One of the biggest threats to America’s politics might be the country’s founding document.”  She was referring to the U.S. Constitution.

Proving the Democratic Party is way over the line on progressive issues, the Vermont Department of Health last Thursday advised educators and families to stop using the terms “son” and “daughter” when speaking to students. Instead, the department suggested using “child” or “kid.” Are they going to ask us to stop saying “mom” and “dad” next?

The same health department, in its “health equity glossary”  posted online says the term “white” is “a social and political, rather than biological, construct.”

In February the Biden-Harris administration appointed Sneha Nair as special assistant at the National Nuclear Security Administration. The NNSA is an agency that “enhances national security through the military application of nuclear science.”

According to FoxNews online, “Nair believes in eradicating purported “White supremacy” in the nuclear field as well as “queering nuclear weapons” as part of a diversity, equity and inclusion push she believes is essential for deterring threats to nuclear energy facilities in the U.S.”

“Finally, queer theory informs the struggle for nuclear justice and disarmament,” Nair wrote last year. “Queer theory helps to shift the perception of nuclear weapons as instruments for security by telling the hidden stories of displacement, illness, and trauma caused by their production and testing.”

If you believe that the appointment of Nair will help with our national security, that we should stop using son and daughter, that we should spend our hard-earned tax dollars to fly migrants in to take our jobs, that those same illegal immigrants deserve state-supported home loans, then vote Democrat. If not join the Republicans.
